Day 01 0930hrs depart from Nairobi city centre based Hotels passing through
lavish green vegetation of the highland of Central Province , the agricultural
nucleus of Kenya . En-route you are able to see Kenya 's main cash crop e.g.
coffee. Picnic lunch en-route. Samburu is reached in the evening. Dinner and
overnight at the campsite.
Day 02 Full day game viewing at the Park. Samburu lies 325kms north of Nairobi
in the hot and arid triangles of the vast northern region of Kenya . The reserve
is within the lands of the colorful samburu people, close relatives of the
Maasai and harbors a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere in any
numbers. These include grevys zebra, reticulated giraffe and beisa oryx all
species only found north of the equator. The long necked gerenuk is a graceful
antelope, which spends much of its time in a BI-pedal stance seeking succulence
among the withered scrub, which dots this harsh terrain. Scenically and faunally
dramatic, for
most of the year Samburu is seen under the unsympathetic equatorial sun. But
relief comes from the wide swathe of the Ewaso Nyiro River which rises some
hundreds of kilometers to the west on the foothills of aberdares and which
vanishes beyond Samburu in the recesses of the Lorian swamp. The river is at
it's best in the reserve, broad and sluggish with a large population of crocodiles
seen on sandbanks at almost every bend. In the lower reaches, where the permanent
pools have formed as tributary joins the river, are hippos. The river is also
fringed with giant acacias, figs and doum palms, all of which provide shade
and sustenance to the wildlife which comes to water. The elephant seek solace
and contentment in the shallow waters of the river and from time to time a
visitor finds herds bathing and drinking in a spectacle of unconscious pleasure.
Dinner and overnight at the campsite.
Day 03 After breakfast depart for Nairobi, enjoy a picnic lunch en-route arriving
Nairobi early evening.

are so named after their language "maa" and despite not being numerically strong,

with cattle " I hope your cattle flourish is a typical greeting". Cattle represent
wealth but also mean food, drink blood and meat-They provide leather for long
